ADU Types We Build
California law now allows an ADU on most single family lots, and there is more than one way to add one:
- Detached ADUs: standalone backyard units built from the ground up
- Attached ADUs: units added onto the existing home with a separate entrance
- Garage conversions: existing garages converted into complete living units
- Junior ADUs (JADUs): compact units created within the existing home footprint
Why ADUs Make Sense in Orange County
A well built unit can house family, generate rental income and add lasting value to the property. The economics work best when the project is scoped correctly from the start, which is exactly where an experienced builder earns their fee.
Permits Handled, Not Handed Off
ADU projects live and die in the permitting phase: setbacks, utility connections, fire access and city specific requirements all have to be resolved before construction. We manage plans, engineering and the permit process with your city directly, and we tell you upfront which requirements affect your specific lot.
A Complete Unit, Not a Shell
Our ADU builds are delivered move in ready: full kitchen and bathroom, independent heating and cooling, proper insulation and soundproofing, and utility connections sized for the unit. If you plan to rent it, we build with tenant durability in mind, from flooring choice to fixture grade.
Frequently Asked Questions
Garage conversions typically take three to four months of construction. Detached new ADUs usually run five to eight months. Design and permitting come before that and vary by city.
Most single family lots in California qualify under current state law, but setbacks, utilities and lot conditions shape what is practical. We assess your property in the first consultation and give you a straight answer.
Usually yes, because the foundation, walls and roof already exist. The tradeoff is losing garage storage and working within the existing footprint. We price both options if your lot allows either.
